The last week has been a particularly busy one for the parents and members of the choir.

Last Wednesday, the choir performed at the Friends of Tredegar House Gala Evening, at St Joseph's School in Newport.  Performing alongside the choir, helping raise money for this worthwhile cause, were the 'poet of Pontypool', Lorna Pearson and the Alcan Singers, as well as vocalists Christine Purkiss and Christopher Edmunds.

Friday night saw choir members, parents and grandparents packing bags in Sainsburys, Newport.  The choir also entertained shoppers with some of their favourite repertoire.  Both customers and staff appreciated seeing and hearing the children, and a fantastic £674.40 was raised towards our Cincinnati fund.  Thanks to all those who came along to help, and thanks to Sainsburys for allowing us to collect.

The Cardiff half marathon is fast approaching and the three intrepid dads, Nick, Neil and Mo are training hard.  If you would like to spur them on by sponsoring them, please visit our "Donate!" page, where you can make a donation through PayPal (no PayPal account necessary).

We are also working hard preparing for our trip to Paris in 3 weeks' time, and have welcomed 4 new members to the choir since the start of term.

At Newport Philharmonic Choir's Spring Concert last Saturday (May 14th), a collection was taken in support of Nidus fundraising drive.  Catrin Williams bravely stood up in front of the audience to tell them about the choir, which I'm sure encouraged people to dig deep.

At the Phil's next rehearsal on the following Tuesday, the choir members were able to add their contributions, and in total £207.33 was raised.

Cheques towards music, backing tracks & music folders have been received from the Community Councils of Croesyceiliog  & Llanyrafon and Pontypool in the last month.  We really appreciate their help & support.

Representatives of the choir’s committee went along to the respective presentation evenings to receive the awards…….maybe next year some of our older choir members could go along too.
